It will. When I disconnect the wire feeding it, the engine wont start. But if the engine is running, if I disconnect the wire then, it will not stop it from running. I assume a bad camshaft pos sensor diagnosis signal sent to the ecu will disalloy it to start the engine.

 

i had to replace mine cause mine went bad and my car was dead in the water without it. It plays a big part in the timing during startup. Without it my car wouldnt spark.

 

I got that same code. It actually was a bad starter giving me a bad camshaft position sensor code. Worked great after replacing starter.

 

or a dirty sensor wiht metal filings on it will cause a no-start condition

 

aww crap, what if this is my problem?! how did you know it was your starter. I really believe its my CPS cuz i took it off and checked the internal resistance at the terminals and its was completly off about 18kOhms, gave it a couple of wacks and checked it again and then it gave me around 1.5kOhms which was a lot better, and then it started! im gonna go change that really right now, but please let me know how you knew it was your starter. I changed my starter last year exactly, with a autozone duralast starter... i think its a POS!

 

My car wouldnt start one day out of the blue and i had it towed and it ended up being the camshaft position sensor. Theres a good chance that could be your problem.

 

YES!!! I had this problem last winter.

 

I had it checked out at the dealer (I know, but it was free ). The starter wasn't not putting out enough voltage causing a misread in the position sensor. From everone else and if you tested the sensor it could be the sensor.
