CEL codes: 0702, 0703, and 0705
CEL codes: 0702, 0703, and 0705
i got several cel codes. i got a 0702, 0703, and 0705. i have the haynes manual that my cousin(cumalot)gave to me when i bought the car from him. 0702 and 0703 codes are: catalyst system fault(right and left bank). what does that mean? and the 0705 code is: evap system leak. what is that? how do i fix these? i asked my cousin and he isn't sure either. please help.
you'll need a new cat.
and evap system, not too clear on but the haynes says nothing about it? it should be in their somewhere if not check the faqs or how-tos I think some help should be in their.

maybe trying to run some treatment thru that will clean out your system could be the solution. Seafoam etc.
cat, I dont know how long the cat is suppost to last but I've heard of some going out but i think for the most part it should last a good while.
but replacing is easy, its just taking the bolts off and replacing cat and bolts. But be handy with some wd-40 and/or PB blaster breakbar and a lot of torque,
eat a good meal 1hr before working.

holy moly, the 0705 evap code could mean any of these:
0705
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0705 points to a problem with the Evaporative Emission Control System.
This malfunction is detected when the EVAP control system has a leak or the EVAP control system does not operate properly. (EVAP = EVAPorative emissions.)
Possible causes include...
- incorrect fuel tank vacuum relief valve
- incorrect fuel filler cap
- fuel filler cap vent remains open or fails to close
- foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
- a leak in the line between the intake manifold and the
EVAP Canister Vacuum Control Valve
- foreign matter caught in the EVAP CVCV
- leaks in the EVAP canister or fuel tank
- leaks in the EVAP purge line (pipe and rubber tube)
- EVAP purge line rubber tube bent
- blocked or bent rubber tube to EVAP control system pressure sensor
- loose or disconnected rubber tube
- EVAP CVCV and circuit
- EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve and circuit
- absolute pressure sensor
- tank fuel temperature sensor
- MAP/BARO switch solenoid valve and circuit
- blocked or bent rubber tube to MAP/BARO switch solenoid valve
- O-ring of EVAP CVCV is missing or damaged
- water separator
- EVAP canister saturated with water
- EVAP control system pressure sensor
- refueling EVAP vapor cut valve
- ORVR system leaks
as far as the cat, i think i'm going to get my cuz to help me with that since he has work on the car so many times. only thing i know how to change is the oil.

Brian, I could definitely help you with the cat. That's very easy. I've done it many times. Guys on here know what I'm talking about with me always taking and putting mods on...lol. So it will be a piece of cake. I don't know about the EVAP thing. It could be any of those things that you listed. I could help you with the cat and we'll see if does helps. I can even help you find a good used stock cat if you want. Give me a call and we'll talk more.
