Got my max fixed, yay

After a very long time of engine dignosting and late nights researching on the computer i finanlly gave up and dropped it off at a nissan specialist. The only symptoms of the car was that it lacked serious power, The motor ran smoth. So me and my brother thought it was maybe a busted sensor, the engine timming, or possibly the tps. After all that and cold weather setting (and my bro going back to school) i left it up to the professionals only to find out it was merly my cadalidic converter. It was blown to ****, i asked him to keep it and it looks like someone dropped a blender inside of it. Im kinda worried tho, how does a car blow a cat? , and what if i blow another one.

cats usually clog up from an overly rich running engine.

Yep, if your cat fails, something caused it to fail and will more than likely make the new cat fail if you don't fix the reason why the first one failed.

How do you know if you have a bad cat? My gas milage has dropped by about 50-100 miles per tank and my exhaust smells foul... should I investigate the cat as the source of the problem or should I be looking elsewhere...btw I replaced my o2 sensor, fuel pump, and pcv valve before winter.. so those arent the culpret for the bad gas mileage.
