write-up on 5-speed conversion (can't seem to find it)
i haven't seen a write-up for a 5-speed swap but the swap isn't hard at all once u have the trannie down u'll know what u need. all u gotta do is just cut the hole for the clutch pedal everything else just bolts up. if u need help let me know.

As far as I can tell, all us 5 speed swap guys just kinda went at it not knowing exactly what all we would be doing. At least thats how I did it. Follow your Haynes or Chiltons for things like removing the axles and tranny, and you should be able to figure out all you need if you have the two cars side by side.
damn that was the same write-up i was lookin' for back in the day. now my question is does the reverse light re-wire and cruise control re-wire from a 4th gen will be the same for a 3rd gen???
One of these days I'll do I write-up for the VG's so it can be stickied. Seems like this topic comes up every other week. When I did my swap, I ended up making a mini sub-harness to correct the electrical issues (clutch switches, interlock, back-up lights, etc). If you want the clutch switches to work correctly (cut off cruise control, starting) you will have to run 4 wires from the engine bay up to the pedal - it's easiest to go through the main grommet by removing the inner fender (DS). I just drilled a hole in the rubber, lubed up the wires and pushed them through. I still have a hand-drawn diagram of the wiring - one day when I'm feeling motivated I'll scan and post. Looks like it might be a slow day at work, so that may happen sooner than later. If you need some technical help, try PM'ing me.
