I havent seen or heard of anyone having this for a 5.5 gen. Custom maxima lists it as available for the 02/03 but their dyno sheet is off a 95. i was wondering if this mod is worth it on an 03 auto. i dont want to do headers or y-pipe right now because im still under warranty and i dont want to splice into my factory harness to extend o2's.

just trying to get as many bolt on mods that i could unbolt easily should i need warranty service.

you dont have to splice anything. there is a plastic wire tie that holds the sensor wire that you cut that gives you all the slack you need..

 

I just got mine straight pipe put on a week ago and it probably wouldnt be worth it by itself. I already had a downpipe, exhaust, and a SC, and it now my tone is a little more noticeable and there seems to be a bit more throttle response.

 

I have it on my 2k2. Plug and play, no sensors to mess around with. Minimal gains, though.

 

Minimal gains unless you have a complete (headers, catback) exhaust sytem. Even then the gains are minimal. True gains can only be seen or felt on FI vehicles.

 

i saw on another members how to and he had cut and extended the 2nd o2....
hmmm now i'm all confused. cus if it's just a matter of cutting a zip tie to get more slack i have no problem with a y-pipe! can anyone else confirm this.

 

Y pipe should be bolt on. There may be fitment with some of them but i am not sure. Nothing too extreme.

Test pipes are basically useless unless FI. Even then they make your car stink, sound worse (CM will be better since resonated), and won't give you much more power (fractions of a hp) than a high flow cat. They are cheaper. Some have even lost power with the CM straight pipe compared to the stock cat. It is high flow enough unless very well modded otherwise.

 

I had it on my 2k3 for a few months the gaskets came loose and the car sounded like a ricer so you need better gaskets from nissan, when I changed to the random tech cat It felt a little less peppy.... overall not worth your $..

 

dont be confused dude.. i was in the same boat as you before i did it.. before that guy posted that write up, myself and a few others mentioned we didnt have to cut to extend it and he even responded by saying that he didnt even think about that ... ive got the cattman y-pipe and mine fit perfect and i didnt cut anything...

How do you guys like your Y pipes? Good gains? Only option for my car is custommaxima y pipe. The stock y pipe on the 04 has the primary cat in it and also has a huge crimp. Is it like that on the 5.5 gens?
