Auto shipping- can anyone help me out?

Yo, I'm looking into shipping my car from Minneapolis to Mesa, Arizona. If i can do it for say... less than $700 or not much more, I'll do it.

So, anyone have any experience doing this, any reccomendations on stuff to watch out for, or how to find companies that would do this cheaply? So far ive got quotes ranging from 650 to 3000 dollars. I'd be all over the 650 one except its through some kind of broker i think and he wants a 250 dollar non-refundable "deposit" in addition, and i dunno what actual shipper he uses is =(

thanks for any help

Maybe you could get someone to drive it for you?? Maybe someone from the org. If I could find a way to get dropped off after the walleye opener in May it would be fun. Are you moving permanently?

Here's what can happen when you ship a car:

Sorry, its a little OT but i really feel for the guy, his car was awesome!

Also illustrates that its a good idea to document your car before and straight after you ship it to ensure there are minimal problems with insurance companies.

Try looking up Koch logistics. They are based in the Cities. A good friend of mine works there. From what I've heard, they are very reliable. The risk would be yours, of course.

650 is really cheap for that distance move. I'd drive it - you have to wonder about lowball offers that don't make sense with everything else.

how are you moving the rest of your stuff. a lot of moving companies will pack your car inside their trailer along with all your stuff. I'd trust that a lot more than some random car transport company. I've heard too many horror stories

Yeah... wasn't there some movie back in the 80's or 90's with either Eddie Murphy or Bill Cosby about him moving, so he hired some company to move his stuff and drive his car (a Saab, IIRC..), and they pretty much trashed his car so bad, they made it into a dune buggy with a gun turret on it?

I know that might be construed as a bit off-topic, but I guess what I'm getting at is that you gotta be REAL careful when dealing with those companies. Like Shawn said, make sure you get insurance if you opt for that route.

But overall (and I'm ASSuming that since you want to ship it, you're concerned about adding mileage to the Max...), I'd drive it there. But you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess...
