300zx wheels and rain

I am considering getting 300zx wheels for my max, but i know that my dad hates to drive his 300 in the rain because it spins out very easily. I'm just wondering, do you loose any traction in the rain when you put the 300zx rims and tires on?

If the tires are balding, then yeah, you probably will. Just because they are 300zx wheels and tires doesn't mean you will inherently LOSE any traction in wet conditions.

well the 300z's are rear wheel drive.. and the max is front so ull get a lot better traction in the rain and snow as long as ur tires are good

Spinning out in the rain has nothing to do with your wheels. Your tires on the other hand...

Any car with good tires should be able to have little problem driving in the rain.

It all has to do with the tires. BTW, you do know that you will need wheel spacers don't you?

Everyone beat me to it, but...

1) RWD + lots of horses
2) Tires

If the tires are worn down, older, or maybe a high performance type that isn't good in rain, then these just make matters worse. Just pick a tire with good rain performance (there are tons of good choices) and you should be fine.

well wheels can effect wet performance alittle but, but not the 300zx wheels. Just interms of width and weight, but tires are the main thing

Yes, wheels make it all. If rubber composition, thread texture stays same, the narrower the tires are, the better traction on snow & wet roads. Also narrow ones handle better on worn, groowed higway...

The higher the tire cross section, the more pleasant grand dad ride. Shops try always to sell F1 tires, cannot understand why. Most driving [to me, maybe to most] is commuting style which means need for comfort; low cross section gives horrible noise and jumpy ride - good only at track...
