Car Start Problem - Seems to stay in gear

Hello,

this has now happened to me twice. I though it was the gear switch but I took it into the dealer that I purchased the car from and they said it was a little loose but was fine, so they just tightned it.

Now here is what it is doing...
When I go to turn off the car everything is fine, I keep my foot on the brake, put in park, let go of the brake and then put the E brake on.
Then when I come back out to start the car up the radio turns on and then when I move the key to the next spot to start the engine it just clicks. I then push the brake in and turn the key off and turn back on and it starts...

-- What is causing this?
-- Is the car staying in gear?

-- Last time this happen I turned off the car about 5 pm Wednesday and did not go to try and start it up till 6 AM Friday... Could this have messed the car up in anyway?

Thanks

it's the ignition switch. Turn the key on to start and jiggle the key, push it in towards the steering column.
