man, that max looks filthy! how can someone drive a car like that? the center console looks cruddy, the cig burns makes me wanna yak. whats up with all thsese stains? the car looks like its been just sitting in one spot for years, look at the engine, its dirty as hell, my 92 240sx has cleaner engine bay than that, and i barely clean mine. you might want to do a history report. ive never bought a car from ebay, so good luck. looks more like a junkyard car they restored.
I wouldn't give 10. But I might offer something real low to see if he wants to get rid of the thing, no telling how long he's had it, just can't pawn it off on anyone. Now, after being on ebay where thousands of people have seen it, he may start to see that he's not gonna get 10 out of the ashtray on wheels. Might get a good price and fix it up. The good thing about that is you can do it the way you want, not what the factory wants. That would be the only plus to buying that car. I've always heard if you don't feel bad for your first offer on a car, you are paying too much. Something like that anyway.
It's nice that he showed the cigarette burns in the seat and the scrape by the wheelwell (obviously not trying to cover anything up). The crazy part of the whole thing is that he made no attempt to clean it up to take those pictures. The car is covered in dirt! The car may have some blemishes, but at least washing it and maybe shampooing the carpets would have made it look quite a bit better. Not a very good selling technique.
It always makes me laugh when people list Maximas, or any other car for that matter, as "fully loaded," and yet it has only the standard options for its model (GXE, SE, GLE).
Aside from that, I would say HELL NO! Stay away from this car. If there are that many cigarette burns in there and nasty scratches on the outside, and the just being filthy in general (why wouldn't they clean it before posting pics for sale???), you never know how hard it was driven. I wouldn't trust the engine and tranny on that thing. And even if it happened to be fine as far as powertrain, you'll end up spending a few thousand probably to restore it cosmetically to a desired state, and that few thousand could've just bought you a nicer car in the first place. I think you could get a very similar car, but in nice shape, for probably between $13k and $14k. Good luck.

As dirty as that engine appears, and all the staining on the carpets, I'm not sure I'd rule out it having been wet at some time. I'd stay away from it like the plague - like others said, you can get a known good car for what you're going to spend getting this train wreck back in shape. Very sad to see, but probably a money pit waiting to happen.

^^ seriously, by how little care the owner is expressing in selling his vehicle effectively, you know he/she didn't give a rat's @ss about the car itself during ownership. one of my neighbors has a 03 SE sterling mist just like mine and it's like a 35 year old lady (and ever single time i see it it's cleaner than mine!). i swear if anything ever happened to my max i'd make her an offer lol.
Don't purchase this car. As horrible as this vehicle looks superficially, there's no telling what the condition of the engine/drivetrain/suspension is. The person who owned this previously obviously did not give a rats' a$$ about it. Even at the starting bid of $8K I wouldn't purchase it. Think of it this way. Spend that money now, and you might just be out $8K. As common sense goes, you gotta spend a little bit to get a little bit. Good luck in your search.

How about we start locking these useless threads? Every day there is a "Would you buy this junkyard maxima"? Let's put it this way. A 2002 max is worth $hit in mint condition with low mileage right now. How much would a totalled or abused max be worth? Less than $hit.
Just my observation but the car is running with the fuel light on, so it's going to be
sucking crap into the engine. The engine is dirty and the air filter looks like it hasn't
been changed. Look at the air intake look like it's been sucking in dirt for a while. The
stereo has dirt deposit all over near the opening of the cassette and CD player (possible
problem with the CD player). Too many cigarette burns (A smoker's car). Soda or
some kind of drink spills with little regard to cleaning it up. The vehicle has been scraped
on one side of the vehicle (poor driving). I have to agree with other posters on here.
This car isn't worth it unless you car mechanically incline. I would buy because I have
no problem restoring the car to it's glory but if I were you I wouldn't. Hope this helps

I'd buy it for 7k tops, like posted above , the money spent getting it into perfect condition will get you a nice one.
And as for bying a car off ebay, it seems risky but i would buy it if i could see it personaly, otherwise it seems like it can be a P.I.T.A.
