Glad This Didnt Happen To Me!!!!!
A buddy of mine was driving down I-25 in Denver in his 99 Automatic GXE. He reached over to get something out of the glove box and accidentally bumped the shifter out of drive "D" and into reverse. He said he about flew threw the windshield and just completely blew his engine. He is sooooo pi$$ed off right now. I just hope this never ever happens to me. To make matters worse he sat on the side of the interstate for 2 hours waiting for someone to help come help him. Whoever he called took a very long time to get there. Just thought id share this nightmare. Im not sure how he bumped it clear through neautral and into reverse but I guess he managed to do it. I feel terrible for him. Take Care
That button should've stopped him from going to reverse. Also, my friend had accidently done that in his Sentra, all it did was maks a loud clicking noise, along with stalling out the engine. The car kept coasting forward. No other harm was done.
Re: So it is possible?
Like i said im not sure how he did it. He may have accedentally pushed the button in with his arm or somethin. He just told me what happened. Also he said he was going around 90 when it happened.
The only thing I know about the damage to his engine is what he told me the shop told him. Ill find out more about it and ask him the specific details of this as soon as I can get a hold of him. I let you all know.
