Hello,

I have a 91 automatic SE and have problems with the engine shaking or shutting off when changing gear from park to drive or reverse or when coming to a stop.

The engine idles fine when in park or neutral, around 700 rpm. But when I put it into gear the rpm drops to about 400-500 or shuts off.

What could be the problem? I need to get a smog check by this weekend. Do you guys think this will be a problem when taking the test?

Also, I have been hearing that it might be a vacuum leak. How many vacuum hoses are on the max.

I dont have a A/T, but I advanced the timing a bit and it went away.....

2. 'thousands' possibilities
3. its a problem if emissions too high
