how do you hold the filter in place if you remove the lower half of the airbox?

I was thinking of doing the hacked airbox mod this weekend when I install my y pipe, but then I got to thinking I don't want to cut up the stock airbox, in case I want to switch back. I saw a car the other day with a panel filter like ours, and the owner removed the bottom part of the airbox and simply held the filter to the top with a giant zip tie. He didn't even brace it, just let it dangle as is. He said it has been like that for a couple years and never given him any problems. Is this a good idea? To anyone who has done this mod, how do you keep the filter in place?

You use 1.5" long nails and bend them at the top. Worked for me, the filter never fell off and sounded, for the lack of words, ****ing amazing

I have a hacked airbox as well. I went to a junkyard and picked up the bottom half of an airbox for $10 and cut it up with a dremel, I cut off everything but the lip so that it could be mounted back onto the top half to hold in the panel filter.

Works fine for me!
