Can you put led in your AUTOMETER Gauges??

Can you put led in your AUTOMETER Gauges??
Just wanted to know if we could swap out the back lights of the autometer gauges like the Volt, Oil temp, water, etc.... with led to match the rest of the car if you where to do the leds conversion... now if so what size would I bee needing and is there anything different going about this??? Has anyone done this???
