Just had all of my motor mounts replaced....

On one of the old mounts there was a sensor attached to it. What is this sensor for? The mechanic did not have anywhere to mount it with the new mounts that i gave him.

That's the electronic engine mount sensor thingy. It adjusts ride harshness under idle and normal driving.

I don't know if you need it or not. I would guess so though. I think the different firmness levels were there for a reason. No sure, sorry.

It was placed there on the SE and GLE models to give different stiffnesses for the Motor mounts. It is used to cushion and minimize engine vibration. You may have purchased the normal Motor mounts(GXE) which would be the reason the mechanic had no place to connect it on the new set.

Sounds like it really isn't needed. If its to minimize engine vibration than why wouldn't they put it on all 3 models? I really don't feel like shelling out more money for 1 mount and than having to replace it again if its not needed.

It might set a CEL without the correct electronic mounts in the car.

Only time will tell....
