just redid climate control leds

hey guys a couple ppl have asked me recently about my needles and my climate control and such and how i did it

i use wariow's write up for a lot of my info and just figured out the needles my self but i just redid my climate control by drilling into the clear plastic piece that is supposed to refract the light to each button and placing a 3 mm blue led behind each button instead of one led at the base of the clear piece that gets spread around

this prolly doenst make anysense lol cuz i suck at explaining but heres some pics i took

Nice job! I just redid my cluster cause the instruction in the stickies was making high & low spots. After installing many additional LED seems much brighter. I will also take your idea and install some more in my auto climate control.

Oh yeah, I had drilled holes between the printed circuit and added 4 LED's per gauge. Much briter and more even light. The only one which was a pain in the a$$ was the speedo due the built on circuit boad, I also added 2 LED per original light instead of 1 each.

if u didn't check ur inbox, just read this here pavel:

u just motivated me to reconsider doin the led climate mod on my car. i have thought about this for a long time but never got to it for various reasons. i have also been lookin at wariows site.
i need to know what resister rating did u use, i heard 80ohm is the best. anywayz, theres basically no wiring needed in this right? its just basic desolder and then resolder? did you use 3mm for all? did u use a red led for the hot section of the temp thingy?
also, where did you buy ur leds and resistors?
lastly, did u run into any problems doin this?

if you could kindly answer most of those, it would help me a bunch. thank ya

i'm not sure what mcd red i had they were bright if you look at the hot section on the climate control it has a red led in it now

they werent bad but my gauges were done with 194 bulbs and they faded out and i just decided to purchase indiglos and change everything to blue

personally i think if you could get your gauges to be evenly lit up with leds white would look the best... but im happy with blue

good job on the climate danny, nice touch on the refitting hte leds to avoid the hotspots. I think i'm getting too old for LED's, they apparently seem to blind my backseat passengers. "what the hell is that light? thing is blinding me!"

is the group LED sale from CwithK still going on? does it make any diff from orderin off of ebay or going through paypal to his emailaddress? he sells them on ebay, 1 for 50blue leds +resistors for $7.50 but i couldn't find any in 3mm, so i might order 2 of the 10pcks of blue 3mm unless someone could answer my questions.
