Gen. 4 Recall Info
Gen. 4 Recall Info
I've been told that some gen. 4's are under a recall (alternator i think). I spoke with a Nissan Rep. today and he said most of the recalls are late 97's or 98's. Just some info that i thought might help.
Reimbursement?
I just bought a 97 SE two weeks ago with 94K on the odo. I verified with the VIN and it is one of the late 97's eligible for the recall.
However, after purchase, I found some records in a folder in the back seat pocket. One of the receipts was for a new alternator ($312) back in 2000 from an independent garage. This must have been done by the previous owner.
My question: Can I submit this for reimbursement and get the $300 bucks? I figure why not, right?

i figure why not as well, but im sure nissan wont let you do that. I think theyll say there is no need because the problem was taken care of previously/privately. But you def. should call them and find out...wahts the worst that can happen...they say no? or maybe save urself $300
