In the 3rd gen it is by no means plug-n-play, so I am assuming that the 4th gen would be the same. You have to do a lot of wiring in order to do it b/c the auto CC uses a lot of sonsors that the manual CC doesnt need.

On the 3rd gen forum CraigB and awsm66 did the swap. Check thier web pages for more info on the swap

if you read in the FAQs it says that its really a lot of work and almost not worth it, and also the auto is more prone to problems than manual control.

anything is possible with money. but think about what would need to be done;

manual is all controlled by a lever that you move back and forth. auto is controlled by electronic servos. for it to work, you would have to the get headunit, then mount and wire up all the servos. not worth it.

comming from someone who has auto CC, your not missing anything.

It's definitely not worth it, I have the auto and like you say, it's more prone to problems. I use it manually all the time to prevent it from switching fan speeds when I hit a bump, etc. I really question Nissan's choice of suppliers in the mid/late 90's. They should write a book about Nissan just like they did about the K-Car in the late 70's.

i wonder if it were possible to switch to the auto unit and use it only in manual mode without hooking up all the sensors for auto mode.

only reason i would switch is because it looks a little cooler, auto-control is OVER-RATED

I have the manual controls and IMO I like them more than the digital ones, and as Frank said, the digital controls have more problems

that would be just as much work. like i said, all the controlls for opening and closing the vents, and fan speeds on the auto are controlled by smal servos. setting all that up would be SO much work that its not worth it.
