There's the right CV boot on my 97. I guess I should have replaced it a while ago
Anyway, my cv joint is likely dead now isn't it...? Do I need to replace the entire axel, and is it hard? I see motorvate has a write up on that. It doesn't look that difficult by simply looking at what the axel is.
In regards to driving the car drives fine and I was unaware of this until changing the oil today, so I plan on putting another 500+ miles on the car this week before probably getting to it next weekend.

You should replace the entire axle since you do not know when it tore. When you drive on it like that dirt gets in there and can ruin the joint over time. I bought my new axle from raxles.com - they sell new axles unlike Autozone, etc. Replacing it isn't too hard. Just follow the instructions on www.motorvate.ca .
Raxles looks like a good bet. They have no prices online - how much do they typically charge?
Looking at motorvate it seems that he spent so long with labour because he was repacking and applying a new cv boot. I guess with a new axle, though it's pricier, it's really just a quick swap (once the wheel comes off)...

motorvate is an excellent write up, he goes thru it step by step, and tell you all the tools and greeses you'll need. I believe Motorvate is the best write up out there if you cant follow that write up then just replace the whole axle it will be much easier and less of a headache for you.
