the engin wont start, starter is not running at all. when i turned the key to start position, lights just went off. turned the key back to on position, lights back on. something wonrg with battery??? sory about bad english....car is '00 maxima with 45000 miles on it.

 

sounds like the battery to me

 

just jump start from a friend's car, engin started. took off jumpin cable, let it ran about ten mints. turned off the engin, it wont start on its own..... is the charging system not chargin or a dead battery???

 

It's your battery. When the car is running, it normally runs off the alternator, explaining why it kept running.

go to autozone and get a normal battery... that will work eith your car... but also check the alternator........it might be going out......

 

how to check alternator is good or bad?i dont wanna waste money on the battery if something wrong with alternator. i did jump start from another car again, this time it stay running for a while, but when i shifted to D and tried to drive my car to garage, engin just shut off, and no success with restart.....is it possible to drive a car with good alternator and bad battery? can i just take a good battery off another car, and put in my car to see if it starts? if it starts, then the problem should be on the battery???? anyone?
