EGR & PCV valve cleaning

Can I clean my EGR & PCV valve also all the tubing or is it recommended to replace them?

If so, how?

Change the PCV valve, it's a $4 part. The EGR system can be cleaned, but it's a PITA and requires the intake to be removed.

There's some stuff above the PCV... Should any of that be removed? Or can I wedge a plier in there get the pcv out?

You can pry the pcv valve right out of between the hoses. Then just plug the new one in and make sure it's secure.

If your short $4, let the pcv valve sit in a cup of TB cleaner and it will restore some good life back to the pcv valve.

As far as an update to my woes...I replaced my PCV Valve and everything is good as new. The old PCV Valves was pretty clogged. Since the replacement, I haven't had any issues with smoke at all.

It even feels a little smoother on accelleration.

I pulled my egr from 99 maxima se without removing intake. I little tight. But, only had to remove the 30mm flange end off of exhaust feed with crescent wrench and bent it down a little to access upper egr tube bolts.
