survey says.....X

mine are done using dupli-color gloss black enamel spray that you can buy at most auto stores. The first time I did it I used a smoke paint, but it looked kind of brown on my black car, so I took it off and used the black enamel....2 thin coats and 2 coats of gloss clearcoat. Light shines through fine, and it is a perfect match for the car's paint when off.

As long as you put VERY thin coats on (i.e. just enough to cover) light shines through just fine (of course, it is dimmer than stock, but so what!)

some pics you can see:

yes, make sure you practice on something else...they need to be very thin, just enough to cover...else they will look like crap...

I did this using some plastic-specific paint from Rustoleum (got it at Wal-Mart). Used thin coats and let them dry well in-between coats. Came out pretty good. I put a couple of coats of Gold Class over the top of them and it seems to be holding up well, knock on wood. The key is not to get in a hurry when spraying. If you do, you'll only end up stripping and repainting.
