Hit the curb at 20mph...aftermath
I posted earlier that i hit the curb with my wheel going about 20 mph sideways. i broke my right control arm because the wheel was forced a few inches under the car. today, i changed my control arm for a new one, but the wheel got just a little more straight. i took the whole suspension assembly apart and put it back together twice adn i did not see that any other parts were damaged. i really do want to fix this myself because i do not want to pay the bill that a shop would put in front of me. what should i look more closely at? has this happened to anyone here? any input is appreciated. thanks.
no, i just used a box wrench (i had to modify the wronch a little bit because it was too thick to fit into the gap between the joint and the steering knuckle). besides that, the whole installation/removal went fine.
A couple weeks ago I caught my front left wheel on one of those concrete poles (that are next to drive thru windows) while getting away from a drunk that had already smashed my mirror. Anyways, I pushed my front wheel forward about 3” bending my driver's side control arm. When I replaced it, it pulled my wheel back ~1" but it is still about 1.5" to far forward. I am going to take it to a body shop to have everything straightened out.
thanks for the input guys...
My car was towed to the shop yesterday night and they should start working on it either today or tommorow. I am waiting for the estimate with my fingers crossed, hope it is not going to be too much. I will let you guys kno how much it will end up costing me. So far i paid $120 for the new control arm shipped to my house.

I did that two winters ago but a 35mph. I bet you will need a new wheel bearing. When I had mine fixed I had the lower control arm, wheel bearing, strut, and strut top mount. They said with the strut bar I saved myself money cause it kept the strut post strong which could of been worse if I had not of had one. I went to dealership and only paid $1000. That was all my Xmas cash I had gotten that year.
It's probably the knuckle and/or the strut. Same thing happend to me, and i replaced the control arm (usually they come assembled with the ball joint), but it's still pretty badly misaligned, so I'm guessing it's the knuckle/strut assembly.
yeah, they did the estimate at the shop today and quoted me for $1000.24. the mechanic said that knuckle and strut are bent and need to be replaced. Well, i am not paying $1000 to anyone to fix my car. i am picking it up from the shop and will just look for parts separate. i am sure i can install them myself. I know i will have to do alignment though.
P.S. what was that website that had cheap nissan parts on it?
thanks guys.

I purchased the parts i need from a junkyard in Stockton and picked them up today. they sold me the WHOLE hub assembly, (knuckle, bearing, calipers, brakelines, ABS sensor rotor, shield) for $125 and strut (assembled with shock, spring and upper spring retainer) for $95. my total was $237. i will install the parts tommorow and hopefully get my car back on track...
to me it seems like a got a little better deal than paying my mechanic $630 for knuckle, bearing and strut...

to those who are interested, i fixed my car a few days ago all by myself. i decided not to go to the shop and it cost me $457. IMO it is a lot better than $1100 that the mechanic wanted for it. anyways my max is back on track and is still taking smooth deep breaths... knock on wood.
P.S. i am really surprised that my rim did not break...
