good tranny place in CT?

Hey all, I'm a new Maxima owner and I knew about the tranny problems these cars sometimes have, but got it cheap and its in nice shape.
Anyhow, I think the diff bearings are bad. The car does not whine or grind but rather makes a noise that sounds like the motor is knocking when I let out the clutch. Put clutch in, no noise. Is this the diff I've been reading about? Like others I've read, its only noticeable in 1st and 2nd gear. With each coming gear it gets softer and softer. Is there a possibility of a bad motor mount or tranny mount? Like I said I'm a newb so excuse my newbness.

Well onto my subject. If I wanna get the tranny rebuilt or swap another one in or whatever I decide to do, where is a good shop to have it done? Obviously I'd like to stay away from the stealership. Preferably central CT. TIA.
