Will a 95-96 stock cat-back fit on a 97?

My stock 97 exhaust is all kinds of messed up. Rusted, broken, etc. I have the oppurtunity to pick up a stock cat-back from a 95 that is in pretty good condition. Will the 95 cat-back bolt up to my 97 without any issues?? I know about the extra section of pipe on the 97 after the cat...but if I'm not mistaken the extra length just makes up for the shorter cat. Any input?

95's have a port for the O2 sensor, whereas the 97-03 don't. So there'd be a big, useless hole.

Uh, that is wrong. They both have o2 bungs but the 95-96 maximas have it in the cat while 97-99 maxima's have it in the midpipe.

He's talking Cat back anyways so it doesn't matter but FLAVOR_24/7 is correct, don't think there's a difference after the Cat but I'm not 100% on that, anyone else?

I know about the difference in O2 sensor placement between the two...I just want to know if that extra, small section with the O2 sensor in it on the 97-99 cars is meant to compensate for the shorter cat.

Im not understanding you, as far as I know of, the cat is the same size on all years. Its just the placement of the O2 sensor.
So 97-99 owners can use a 95-96 catback they just need to have an O2 bung created.
95-96 owners should be able to use the 97-99 just going to have to plug the O2 bung thats in the midpipe.
Whats going to make a difference is the bumper.
The bumper on a 97-99 is a bit longer then the 95-96 so if your using the 95-96 catback the tip may sit tucked in the bumper as before it stuck out.

I wouldn't mind having the "suck-in" look, I've seen it on a few max's and it looked pretty sweet.

Not that it matters in this case, but on the 99 cali spec there is NO o2 sensor in the midpipe. It is in the cat itself. Also, I bought an exhaust spec'd to fit a 95 and the midpipe is roughly 6in too short coming off the cat. Again this may or may not be specific to the 99 cali spec, but that is how it is on mine.
