Anyone done a RED LED swap
Anyone done a RED LED swap
I'm getting a bit tired of the blue....want to see what red would look like
My OTHER problem....tried to swap out a few of the LEDs (back windows) with various red lEDs I have (using the correct reisistor) and can't get the damn things to work.
They also won't work on the main window circuit board (driver's side)....either I have all defective LEDs, or I am an idiot....ended up switching the blue ones back in and they work fine.
question: on the driver's window circuit board, WHAT SIZE RESISTORS are they? Are the resistors the little black box things with numbers written on them or not? If I knew what resistors were on that board, perhaps I could figure out why the LEDs I tried will not work...
damn this stuff is frustrating...I've now come close several times to ruining the circuit board, only with some creative soldering keeping them working fine....

edit: guess you deleted your post?
Yeah I was adding my sig wich I made last night. I would look at the lines on the resistors coz you can check by those colors what ohms and resistance of a resistor is.
I still think I can't help you though I'm just shooting blanks here...

the OEM resistors in the circuit board are not in-line resistors.....I know how LEDs work and all that, I'm asking a more specific question that only someone who's taken apart the switch would know the answer to I guess;
I've already done all the switches with LEDs once...

Wouldn't it be nice if you can adjust the colors... like on my Alpine receiver, I can choose any color I want. but at least maybe make it so you can adjust like the primary colors blue, red, green.., Tuesday I feel like red...ok, Fridays are blue...etc...But that's too hard IMHO

Sorry Irish, definitely OT. Now, back to the topic at hand...
I think red might look nice in there.
Finally got one of the red ones to work....in one of the back doors. I actually bypassed the switch wiring and hardwired it straight into the harness. Let me say...the blue was nice, but I got real tired of it (plus, my 30-year old friends thought it's a little
) Let me tell you though, the red looks awesome on the one switch. Much more classy and subtle. I used 800 intensity LEDs, so it's bright enough to be seen but not so bright it looks cheesy....looks like it could have come that way stock, unlike the blue.
Now....I just have to do all the OTHER switches and radio/climate control
still need to know the resistor size on the driver's side circuit board though!!!

Yes it's the 9835, isn't it the best stereo ever.... yes it is...
BTW, I have redone the climate control using 11 3mm LEDs (1for each button) as opposed to the 3 5mm LEDs in stock bulb positions, which did not have even light dispersal. Will be putting the new set in when I install stereo (next week?)
Also have one or two little ideas....will post pics when it's all done to my satisfaction!
