when i bought my car at 70k miles they replaced the brakes with all new pads....right now i have 100k on it and i was wondering if it is a good idea to change out the pads....my rears seiZED up a month ago so i had to replace everything in the back (caliper,rotor,pads)

i want to avoid having to do this in the front....suggestions?

 

Take it to a mechanic, brake specialist, they'll tell you.

 

Any pad life depends on the driver, and conditions. Normal replacement in NYC is more than normal replacement in Montana.

Check the pads to be sure.

 

For the last couple of years, I have been replacing the front pads with aftermarket ones every year, like every 15000 milles. My driving habits are normal, about 50/50 city/highway.

I kinda think 15000 milles is short life though. But, changing pads when they reach approximately 75% wear is cheap insurance to help protect the much more expensive rotors and calipers components.
