Like the title says, I dont think I can tackle this task alone so I am willing to pay someone here who has experience with the JB weld curing the vias problem. Please live close to MD, D.C. & VA.

maseo, I don't know if anyone local has actually done it. You might want to PM soonerfan - if anyone around here has tried it, it's him or his roommate Cutlr7...

 

I'll do it for you if you're willing to drive to charlotte, nc or somewhere close, and believe me, I've had enough experience in this matter. The only thing is that your max will need to be out of commision for around 12-24 hrs while the jb weld cures. OR, you could come down here and I could show you how to do it using my max as an example, I'd be willing to do that for free.

 

Your a good guy, but NC is way too friggen far for me to travel. I definately appreciate the offer though.

 

I've done it... but I haven't been to any meets lately, I do have replacement bolts and everything for the fix. I must say though--on my original VIAS, the fix didn't hold up very well. I have a new VIAS box from a used manifold that is somehow in perfect shape, and it's stayed in perfect shape for the few months I've had it.
(I'm about ~80mi from DC I think)

I tell you what--I'll see if I can get my original VIAS box re-JBwelded using the original JB Weld (I used JB Quik the first time), and maybe if I see you at a meet sometime we can just swap VIAS boxes (me taking your old one, perhaps so I can fix it up for future fixes)... though I'll also need my dremel because the way I do it, you need to cut the end of the VIAS power rod a tad short (along with snipping the spring by about 1/3rd length). Should make it fit properly and hopefully reduce tension on the cup so it won't break as easily.
