radio / power antennae question...

Okay, I have finally bypassed the bose system (just ripped the whole damn thing out) replaced my HU, and all the speakers, including a nice sub.

My problem now is the antennae comes up everytime I power up the radio, even if I'm only playing a CD.

I want it to come up only when I switch to radio.

Is there a way I can reconfigure my wiring to facilitate this?

On my '93 Max I got a Sony CDX-F5700 and the guys who installed it used the power antenna wire hooked up to the antenna. The antenna only goes up when I have the radio on, and when I am playing a CD, the antenna goes down.

I guess it only depends if your head unit is capable of controlling the antenna and the amp separately. My HU does. Or else, if the HU is capable of it, it is just wired wrong.

I don't have too much experience on it, but that is what it sounds like to me. Anybody correct me, please, if I am wrong.

I do have a bypass switch as standard. Next question is, what is the Blaupunkt std here...

Search out the AntEnna wire behind stereo, cut off. If now all works but antenna does not rise, u have hit the right one... Next add bypass killerswitch on these wire ends.

I installed an aftermarket HU a couple days ago, the HU powers up, but the antenna doesnt go up. I hooked up the antenna adapter and wires but it still won't go up...WHY NOT?

Is your power antennae wire hooked up? Sometimes its called "remote" from the radio. Just hook that up to the power antennae wire (I believe its blue with white stripe, but Im not 100% sure).

sometimes the wire from the radio is labeled remote instead of antenna. This wire should be hooked up to the power antenna wire comming from the antena/harness (also should be blue). Recheck the wiring. Make sure the wire is giving power. It should be 12v when the radio is turned on. Was it working before you installed the new HU? If it wasnt then it is a wiring issue within the car.

the stock bose wiring has 2 trigger wires.
1 for the amps
1 for the antennae.
maybe you hooked up the amp by accident

yeah im pretty sure i connected all the wires right. I hooked up the blue antenna wire to the blue one on the harness and the amp turn on wire to the amp turn on wire, and the antenna adapter is hooked up as well, but it still wont work. yes the antenna was working before i installed the aftermarket HU

try hooking up the amp turn on wire from the HU to the car antenna wire. If it's turning on your amps it should send power to the antenna.
