Aftermarket Wheel Finish Protection?
Like most people already know, most modern aftermarket wheels have a very delicate finish. Most paint finish wheels shouldn’t be cleaned with harsh chemicals, and should be polished and protected with products that can be used on painted surfaces.
Just wanted to know if anyone uses or knows of any products that really make a difference when it comes to keeping you wheels looking new for long.
I was looking into purchasing some of tirerack’s endorsed “Wheel Wax”, any opinions?

Pretty much any wax works well on rims. I always layer mine up pretty well during the winter when I have my ratty winter rims on. I lay down a few coats of whatever I have kicking around the garage that I want to use up. I'll add a quick coat when I'm doing the rest of the car during the summer too.
Don't get all nutty about what wheel wax is the best. They're all going to be fairly similar in those harsh conditions. Besides making the rims shiney, the wax helps to stop the brake dust from adhereing to the finish. I'll likely try the new brake dust repellant from Michelin this summer. The combo of the two should keep my wheels lookin sharp at all times.

Since applying wax to every crevice in my wheels would be very difficult if not impossible, would some spray on wax do anything to help protect them? I know it doesn't do much for paint...but would it do anything for the rims?
No the spray-on wax would probably not be nearly durable enough to withstand the heat produced by your brakes. Thus, your wax would melt off during your first drive.
I use FourStar Ultimate Paint Protection or Wolfgang Sealant on my wheels, and top with Meguiars #16 Paste Wax. Pretty much any sealant will do.
