1996 Nissan Maxima Battery draw
1996 Nissan Maxima Battery draw
Today i delivered my maxima to a car shop because the battery keeps on going dead. I checked all the fuses and the battery to see whats going on. The fuses and battery are fine including the alternator and starter. so that makes me think its the security system. i didnt lock the doors so the security system wasnt activated and the next morning the battery was fine. that make me wonder? I would like to know if anyone has gone through the same problem.
The only way to know for sure whats causing the draw or if there is a draw is by using an AMP meter to mesure the amperage being used while the car is off. First you gonna need a amp meter (use DC 10 amp scale ) while the car is OFF disconnect the neg terminal on the battery. Connect the negitive (black) lead from the meter to the battery terminal and the positive (red) lead from the meter to the negitive cable on the vehicle. while the meter is connected disconnect the hood switch ( so you can arm the factory alarm) lock the door with the key and wait for the LED to go out on the dash. Your meter should read less than or about 60 - 50 Ma. Which is 0.050 on a digital meter. If it's way above that then there is a draw. Disconnect the alarm and try it again to see what the readings are.
