Here what happened today!! :(

So i go to Tire Kingdom to get a brake inspection. They call me 2 hours later to tell me than is going to cost $1340 .... thats right $1340. They said that somehow tranny fluid got into the brake system and that all the rubber has expanded and that they need to replace everything; is that unbelieveable or what?

How does transmission fluid get into the brake system?

Did someone forget where the transmission fluid gets filled?

I mistakenly added about 2 ounces of brake fluid to my power steering reservoir last summer. I had it flushed within a few miles. Some shops said forget about it, others said I should get it flushed. At any rate it had been in there long enough.

When I had this situation, I was warned in no uncertain terms NEVER to put transmission fluid in the brake fluid reservoir or I would have major problems.

How long have you owned this car? Did you put transmission fluid in the brake receptacle by any chance?

brake fluid makes rubber seals expand. thats why you should never put it in anything except a mastercylinder. but tranny fluid i dont think it will ruin the seals in your braking system. if your brakes where bled w/ trans fluid then flush the system but if it was just poured into the resevoir on the master get a turkey baster and suck it out of their. then fill it back up w/ clean dot3 brake fluid. should be okay.

yea looks like the shop is looking to make some ....... extra labor and parts sales.... flush the brake system ...... larryseibel had a good idea with the turkey baster.... after you clear the resevoir .... bleed the system untill you use up one of the big bottles of brake fluid.... I think you will be fine
