I30 LSD vs. Quaife Differential LSD

I have a 95 SE 5 speed, I really want LSD but im not sure if i should get a I30 tranny swap or a Quaife Differential. Which is better in performances, prices, installs, ect.

Quaife does't make the differentials anymore and I30 5speed LSD trannys are quite rare. You can try findind a 2001 AE tranny they are also VLSD.

good luck finding an AE '01 tranny!!! and a quaife....

the only thing your stuck with is the phantom/vitek (which most people here don't even consider an LSD)....

welcome to the dilemma of owning a USDM maxima and nissan jipping us, but giving canadians and all other international maxima owners the LSD trannies...

A new transmission from Nissan w/VLSD costs ~$1600

Sidenote: It's spelled gyp; it stems from the term gypsy.

Ah...I figured you didn't know the correct spelling. Well, at least others who didn't know learned something

mmm thread hacking. Gyp's are my heros.

And I want VLSD too, but I'm a poor college kid.

When did quaife stop making them? I looked at them awhile back but just didn't have the funds.

For all of those wanting LSD, what do you think it will do for you?

If you want it for better power control coming out of turns it may be an asset, however if you think it will help you in straight line performance, think again.

I have had 2 Maximas now with VLSD and straight line performance is no better than with my current 02 which is a one-wheeler-peeler. Same 60' of 1.7x.

Its a lot of money to spend for something that may not enhance your performance.

Quaife is definitely going to be more expensive to install. LSD I30 trannies are not terribly difficult to come by.

I'm glad my maxima came with the VLSD tranny.

What do you mean to harness? Axles need to LSD specific. I'm not sure if one or both do. Just get 'em both with the tranny. Nothing else is different. The casing and bell housing are exactly the same so all the bolts line up and so does the mount.

That's exactly what I meant by harness. I think I see my next project coming soon....well, as soon as my tranny takes a crap.
