A warning for you 265 hp lead foots...

This has happened with each new car I have owned within the first 3 months...

1st day of vacation, nice sunny day. Washed & buffed The Max, time to go for a nice drive. Decide to use the Nav sys to plot a route to my Mom's house not using any highways and see where it takes me. The Nav sys prompts me to take an unfamiliar road so I do, 2 secs later I look up and a cop is standing by his car waving me over. BUSTED! I explained to the officer, how i was testing my nav sys, wasn't familiar with the road and its 35mph speed limit and how this was a brand new car, how my wife is gonna crucify me yada yada... he asks "Driver's License and registration please and what's your driving record like?" Spotless I assure him. Of course he checks . Long story short... he gave me a warning WHEW! I would have been really ashamed to get a ticket for speeding in a 35mph zone, last ticket I got with my Old SC400 lexus coupe I was clocked at 98 mph in a 55 ( that's more like it if your going to get a ticket), cop wrote the ticket for 75 mph so I wouldnt get my license revoked but that was 10 years ago and I took it to court and just got the fine with no points. I thought I had learned my lesson until today.

You guys got it easy out there... 100+ is automatic reckless driving and almost $500 in fines. If you get caught in a construction zone they probably add a free beating automatically...

It cost me $672 and mandatory court appearance and no traffic school. I guess it's upto the cops judgement. I was on the open highway with no cars around so I guess I just got lucky...

Just 2 points? I was doing 16 over and got 6 points (66 in a 50). Insurance didn't go up though, actually it went down.

Great analogy...

So when you were chasing that G35, you were staying within all the laws, huh?

Yup, sure was.
It was 0 - speed limt If I'd gotten a ticket, I wouldn't whine about it

Let's see, last speeding ticket I got was some 20 years ago if I recall.
My issue is simply with the "greedy cops statement". And (while I know he was kidding : "I can't go the speed limit cause my car is fast".

Do the crime, pay the fine.... and shut up.

oh, one more thing
If Jay was really on, he would've mentioned my post about getting pulled over the 3rd day I had the Max. Sorry, didn't get a ticket.

There's always room for improvement.

Yo Okie,

I agree with that. Im simply stating its hard to go the speed limit in these bad boys!! This is probably why I dont have a 350Z also!! I know myself a little too well....

What is embarrasing is the fact that I got a ticket for 22 mph over the speed limit on the highway in a little Saturn four door. I went to driving school and the judge dismissed it though.

finally, someone else that UNDERSTANDS my views! you see - I'm ONE of those guys in road construction. almost everyday we some some f*&^in idiot blow thru an active construction zone at 20-30mph over the limit. while we can't move a 40ton piece of equipment like a gokart, if i had to make the choice to protect a fellow roadcrew or the into the path of a speeding idiot... guess which i would do? 40T vrs 2T hummm?

Ive never had a ticket in a construction zone...but I have had 6 speeding tickets and was let off once. In a 4yr period. Yeah I havent had any in 2 yrs and ive been good. No drastic break neck speeds though, just bad luck and too much trust in radar.

If I drive 75 on a local highway I have people passing me. I have to do 80 to keep up with the traffic at most times. It amazes me. I don't mind it. But then I only get 24mpg lol. But I can't let these old ladies pass me anymore...

The car is built for speed.

Guess that one's state specific. They just sent me a letter saying I got 6 points but nothing about suspending my license.

When I get on the highway, 80 is about the avg speed here too. You can easily get passed up doing 90+. This car glides at high speeds, but after my recent ticket I just keep it in the legal range.
