2000 maxima
68k miles

hard Driving in any gear, any speed intermittenly, the engine will sound like castinettes (the things the spanish girls click with their fingers hands)
it almost sounds like engine knock from gas with low octane...
but
here is the kicker it doesn't do it all the time.

I read posts about the 6 possibly (defective factory) ignition coils
could this be a possible problem?

If I drive regulary it never happens, onlly when I floor it does the crackling, snapping occure.

i use 87
I tried 89, 90+ also
and got the same.
its intermitten, meaning if I floor it now and then 10 seconds later it may or may not happen.
I have had it happen, then 5 sec later not happen the rest of the day

It happens more when I take off from a stop turning left or right more

Mine does the same on constan 90+ octane. Could be a dying knock sensor.
