2000 maxima engine is making a knocking noise louder when you first start the car then goes away alittle after awhile still noticeable. The noise is like a knock/tapping noise sound, kind of like if something is hitting the top of one of the pistons. The car had a misfire and all the coil packs were replaced with new ones no more miss but my guess is the owner ran the car for to long with a miss and it caused a crank bearing to go bad. Could the noise be a crankshaft bearing?

Kind of not really though not as fast similar to it.
Its more of a knock/tapping noise instead of a clicking noise.

 

mine has calmed down to knock tapping sound and only when i startup till warm

My 03 auto sounds like it knocks when it's cold and cold outside. Goes away completely when it warms up. In the winter I have to let it warm up before I can drive it because I'm afraid it's going to blow up the motor. It still has full power and all and it doesn't sound like a motor that's knocking from low oil or anything. It's weird...
