baking taillights to open

has anyone baked or opened tails? i have a 2000 gle and replaced tails with 03 clear. The thing i don't like is that 03's are dark grey inside. i actually liked my red ones better because of the chrome piece that's inside that covers the same area where grey is on 03's. it's a seperate piece that can be put inside 03's to create a total chrome look. i got the chrome piece off a max that was wrecked and tail was busted apart already. question is, how do i get this piece out of red and into 03 without breaking housing all apart?thanks in advance to anyone that can help. pat

IIRC, you cannot open the tails, but someone may have found a way since I last heard anything about it.

Doubt it works that way, Ethan (emax95) tried it several times and wasted a couple of sets along the way.
