How much does it cost for rotors and calipers?

ok......

i woke up today out of a wonderful dream, a great sunny day too.

As i get my a$$ to work, my maxi starts making a funny noise from the back wheels, so i decide to take her to the local repair shop.

And boy oh boy, she needed a visit to the clinic.......

Both rear rotors as well as calipers are totally not working, passenger side caliper doesn't work at all, rotor is all scratched. Driver side rotor has the caliper not opening fully when not braking, thus giving me the funny noises.

Guy asks me for $520 bucks for 2 rotors and calipers.........WTF?

My max is starting to give me more and more problems to my wallet since i hit 59k..........

Last time my muffler took a beating, bam 300 bucks........

Man i'm losing love for my max everyday.......i think it's time to sell this junk.......

rear rotors depends what type you get, OEM are obviously cheaper than aftermarket, calipers im not sure but rotors most likely $150-$180

Do the work yourself....if the calipers are shut do this.

Buy a good brake cleaner... If the rubber seal is loose or broken.. pull it and flush the dirt out of there...then use WD40 or whatever you like and flush the damn thing out. Do that to both rear caliper.......Also rent from Autozone the Tool to push the piston in and out so the WD40 can do its magic. If the shop is going to charge $520.00 for the job they are raping you cause only one new caliper cost around $350.00, call Daveb so you can hear it from him.. What the shop is going to do is the same thing I'm telling you.. as for Rotors "Turn them i think that how it is spell...not sure" anyway get the Powerslots...2 years so far and they were the best $200.00 spet in my car.... good luck... if you need help PM me and I'll give you some direction with pics form my car

what shop did you take it to. i normally don't take my car to shops, as i do all the work myself, but if i were, i would at least get a second opinion.

i have a sticky caliper in the driver side rear, and the "shop" told me to replace it.
I basically did what was said above, and I have had no problems with it since.

The nissan tech's here say its a common problem with ppl that brake hard (excess heat) and don't use the ebrake much, somehow using it ratchets the caliper and keeps this from happening.

Now I use the ebrake everytime I corner j/k

I bought a set of 5th gen rear calipers for 75 bux on Ebay, brand new in the box Remanufactured Wagner parts. Figured they will come in handy one day. You can call up Napa or AutoZone and ask for a price on a caliper or just look online.

I dropped $600 on new pads, rotors and the labor about 3 months ago - I just didn't have time to do it myself. I did buy high-end rotors because the OEMs are such crapola. Should be a class-action lawsuit against Nissan for the rotors, coils, and HIDs.

I'll do it for $500. that's $200 in my pocket after parts for ~ 2 hours of work doing it slowly. Plus you get to go to vegas.
