Powertrain warranty??? Dead Max

My 03 Max has 39,000 miles on it, and when I went to leave for work this morning it wouldn't turn over. All the power came on and it sounded normal, however it just wouldn't start. Any idea's on what could be the problem? Should I have the car towed to the dealer (would this repair be covered under the Powertrain warranty?) or should I just bring it to a mechanic? Thanks for any help or suggestions.....

I'm guessing battery. Probably enough to power your lights but not enough juice to start the car. Does your starter make any noise when you try to start? If it makes a clicking noise you could have a bad starter (not part of powertrain warranty I believe).

I seem to have enough juice so I don't think it's the battery, and I'm not getting a clicking sound. Everything seems normal (sounds included), it just won't turn over.....

btw is your car automatic or stick shift? Automatic, make sure the gear lever is either in P or N...if it's manual, then dont forget to depress the clutch pedal....very weird.

If the jump works...get a new battery.

If the jump works and you get a new battery, have the alternator output checked. Also, if you have a system. Make sure the grounds are solid and you not losing your charge through the wires. I have had that happen.

Check with the nissan dealership and make sure that you don,t need a new crankshaft position sensor.I needed one on my 2k2 se, not sure if that was a recall on your year. But mine kept trying to start and wouldn't, I told the dealers the problem and they replaced that part free because of recall. Good luck man

if it started and stopped , would only be alternator, fuel system, if lights severly dim when ya try and crank, power problem most likely...

or it's the crank sensor thing with which i have no experience

I agree with the crank position sensor. That was my first thought actually, but I wanted to see if the jump worked first. Never had the problem myself, but MSN says nationwide average cost is less than $100 for parts and labor. Good luck.
