CAI Install Question Place Racing/Cattman

Just a question for anyone who has installed the CAI for the VG...

I'm trying to figure out why the template for the hole is oval and not round like the end of the pipe itself. Can someone explain?
The instructions that came with it don't cover this.

Thanks.

Maybe so it will have room to move? Im not really sure this is kind of like a question that i am answering with. It seems to me like when the engine moves in the body the air filter would move too, and if its oval it seems like it would have room to move. Not sure if thats true but thats how i saw it in my mind.

b/c the pipe doesn't go straight down...it goes down into the fender area at an angle

Its kind of hard to tell in that pic, but the pipe goes in at an angle. If the hole was round it wouldnt fit.

Big time haleluliah to that! And i'm not even religious. Of course, it enters at an angle!! And you're right El Barto, I've seen lots of pics, but in pics it isn't obvious that it goes in at an angle. I've just been staring at the template thinking - what are they smoking here? lol
Anyway, thanks guys.
