Body color calipers?

hey guys,

you think the body color paint will hold up on the calipers, if you spray it first with a high temp primer or so then the body color paint...

or, anyway or anyhow to do it...

or, any recommended paint close to my silver color..

thanx, TEK.....

I used the black color one on mine and the paint has held nicely through our harsh winter road conditions up here.

I think red looks *****in for claipers. black just kinda disappears I think. Anyone have pics of black calipers? My bronze Brembos on my Spec V were pretty nice too. I was thinking of red calipers to go with my bronze rims and black car.

Dues, red might look bad on mine, but it would DEFINATELY not look good on yours.

Youve got such a nice color scheme going on, the red would just stand out like my dogs ******* poking out...

I'm 90% Red... 10% silver. The only thing holding me back with the silver it will blend in with the rims.

Heehee, no, you wouldnt want that. Not sure what to suggest, its just when I look at your pic, I just cant see putting red in there. BUT, if your object is to have them really stand out, then maybe its the way to go.

Any chances theres a bronze? Black would look slick, wouldnt stand out much, but it would look slick.

photochop *****.... i think a nice glossy black would do nicely. anyone that appreciates quality will notice. but you have so much else to gaze at, who cares? blending in as black is better than popping out/distracting.

i have red calipers, my first mod.... (see/click sig)
yellow would be really nice too. best to have 4 stands so you can do all 4 at once. I used G2 brush on paint off eBay. many orgers are very happy w/ it.

black or silver would look best in my option on your car. i recently did mine in silver, not that that has anything to do with this, but i like the shiney not too much looking silver and it looks clean.

silver might look really good too, but im not sure with your wheels. do you have a side picture of your wheels you could post? Im sure someone on here or myself can photoshop what it would look like. then again the paint is only 20 bucks, so its easy to change it if you dont like it.

Now you've got me thinking about doing this. I'd probably want to go with silver. My only question is would the calipers have to be completly taken off? I hate bleeding brakes so if possible I would want to just hang them on the car like I do when changing the pads. I would just mask where I don't want to get any overspray. The job wouldn't go as fast because I could only get two calipers done at a time.

I have to swap all four wheels back to my aftermarket wheels soon anyway since a pothole bent one and I put the stocks back on. I figure that'll be the perfect time.

There are stickys on how to paint the calipers.

My question is...how would you get lettering on there? Wouldnt a sticker heat off? Paint the letters?

Alright with painting the calipers you could leave them on, you just have to cover everything around it so that paint doesnt go anywhere else on your rotors, etc. etc.

Ive actually thought about the lettering process but looking at my calipers, they are really small. i dont know how your differs compared to mine but the letters would be way way to small to even read and honestly no one is ever gonna see it with the wheels blocking it, so i feel there is no point.. if you do want to do this you are going to have to use paint that can handle 500 degrees of heat if not more. not exactly sure the number of degrees but its gotta be like the brake caliper paint that comes wiht the kit. I bought mine at autobarn for 20bucks. they do have spray cans for $5 each as well.

* also... you should use stencil if you are going to be doing this.

i covered mine with towels...

got the job done

as long as u dont put a ****load of paint on the brush, there will be no dripping at all, and if any u could easily brush it around so that it doesnt go anywhere but on the calipers

Sweet - the towel and brush paint thing is what I am going to do!

Nyauto - how long did you have to let the paint dry before you were able to throw the wheels back on?
Thanks!

When i did it, I put about 2-3 coats on all the calipers. the Paint dried in about 10 mins if not less, but i waited 15-20 between each coat. When you buy the kit, you have enough to last you a life time... I had a friend with me at the time and he knocked over the whole can while i finished one side and saved a little by turning it rightside up, and still i have a lot left over eventhough more than half of the can leaked onto my driveway.
