Body color calipers?
Jayz - Rims are in, tires aren't. Still waiting but it should be this week for sure
I can't friggen wait. Should be rolling by this weekend...
Nyautostyle - So you were driving within a couple of hours of application? And did you have to use a clearcoat to protect from heat?
Thanks!

well you dont have to use a clear coat, but ive been told by some people to use it as it keeps the shine last longer. Myself i didnt use a clear coat, but when i redo the calipers before next winter I will be repainting it once more and using a clearcoat

I think its better to use the G2 paint which is brushed on. Then you can easily paint just the caliper. I think the way to get letters is to get a stencil, and use caliper paint. A little extra time but looks better. I like the NISSAN brakes above as posted by Mizeree. The SE-R brakes from the Altima are the same as our Maxima brakes. I suppose an expensive alternative is to swap Altima brakes on, but its much cheaper to mimic the lettering. Anyone know of where to get stencils made?
I have done it on my last 2 cars, have tried a few different ways. The towel is a nice way, I have crammed news paper behind it also. Guys, with the stock spokes, on the SE, you can even do the paint brush method. Did it on my BMW without even taking off the rims through the spokes. Takes time but pretty easy. I used VHT high temp engine enamel. Comes in various colors and either sprays on with newspaper protecting the rotors with the wheels taken off....or the lazy way that takes time with a paint brush. Take an old bowl, take the VHT engine enamel, spray it in the bowl, dip the model brush in it. Real easy. For durability, best with high temp stuff. All sorts of stuff you can do, get them powercoated, polished....you name it. If you leave the rims on and use the brush method, you will have to back up the car a few times, but real easy. Just thought I would give you some different ideas. Few bucks for one can of engine enamel, some news paper, or a model paint brush. Unless you have a show car that needs powder coated calipers or polished, it still looks good. Hope this helps.
3 dollar mod and you do not even have to take the rims off if you are lazy.

This is what is used on mine with good results:

Very easy to do. Cost about $20.
The only thing i can think of for stencils is to ask a local vinyl sign shop to cut you 4 reverse letters stickers and use one for each wheel. Apply the sticker to the caliper, spray paint the cut-out letters and then remove the sticker when dry. But not sure on well it would stick to the caliper while painting because of the grainy surface.

To the original poster: black calipers on a silver car would look good. Only use red if you have special brakes otherwise you're crossing the line into

Bronze with white letters would be hot, but im still feeling the black i dunno..
Thank you for the Photoshopping. Great way to tell what looks good. I think its a toss up between 1. black with bronze letters and, 2. red with black letters. Even the bronze with black letters looks good. Decisions, decisions. . . . . . .
Im going to make it wasy on myself by buying a good $100 floor jack, a low profile aluminium one so it gets under the car good, does anyone know if its safe to jack up the car from the middle and lift the whole side of the car? should be alright right? The underside has some coating on it so its kinda hard to make sure its the frame. But then I could also use it to rotate tires from front to back (thats ok too right?)
What do you guys think of the Stillen brake kit? Looks like they matched the color to make me drool...would look very good on a Smoke Max right? And I guess it would never need retouching.

But well, I'm gonna wait until my car gets out of the 3/36k brake syst warranty and then mess with that.

$950 though but you will get better stoping power...
I know its REALLY expensive but I am saving for AP Racing two piece rotors with 4 piston calipers sold by Stillen. At $2500 they hurt the pocketbook, but save about 10-15 pounds PER CORNER in unsprung, rotating mass. In teh meantime, Ill paint my calipers and letter them for 50 bucks or whatever it is.
Anyway I think it's better to wait until the brake system warranty expires before making any mods (but painting). I had never replaced the brake system on my cars before, but had no idea how expensive that was. When I bought the max I was even thinking about modding by installing the Brembo brake sys of the G35...

Im leaning towards black calipers with bronze lettering, because I think red is good for bigger brakes since it draws a LOT of attention. I saw a black Jetta with stock red painted brakes today and it was not that impressive since stock brakes are puny. But, if I upgrade to the AP Racing brakes, I may go for the red ones. See the Street Concept Maxima which is black with big red AP Racing brakes. Im trying to locate stencils that will work.

I dunno...more power to ya, but I never need to use the full capabilities of the stock breaks...I probobly use 25% of their power at most. Sure would look good, but for that much dough for a mod.. id rather wait for the kind of car those breaks would come standard on.

) but people go with 18s, 19s and 20s... they don't really gain anything out of it, but it looks good. I personally love the Brembo setup on the G35c, but I can't see spending that much cheese on my car (even if they fit
). On the other hand I would spend some dough on big wheels, but I didn't go past 18 for my own reasons rather than cash. Some people like one thing and some like others... I think the deal here though is that DeusEx likes EVERYTHING, and he's running out of mods to put in his car...
Well I think brakes afre down the list of mods. Like I indicated, for now, i think painting the calipers is a nice cheap fairly easy mod. Later, much later, maybe Ill change the brakes to big brakes.

I know ive talked about this car before, but it is a serious dream 4-door car. Ive been inspired to go silver with the brakes...Take a look at these calipers. They wrap around like 30% of the disk, best looking brakes ive ever seen on a sedan. See if this works..they go silver on all cars, and the wheels are silver painted like ours.

My good friend has a silver E55 and I see it every day. Gorgeous car with big giant brakes. Its a nice car to be inspired by. His silver Lambo Gallardo has even bigger more impressive brakes. Its a very nice look, especially with a silver car.
