Detailing Forum Changes

I was thinking that since the Detailing forum has grown, I was milling around ideas for some changes in here. Here is what I am proposing.

a) Product Reviews
Considering that there are a lot of products on the market and we run into a lot of questions, I was thinking of setting up something where the reviews on Autopia can be viewed here. This way, there is a readily available source for product reviews.

b) I'd like to find a new way for us to display detailing pics. We all know that Cardomain likes to put their logo on every pic. Not everyone has an account at Photobucket or other sites. This is going to be ongoing.

c) I am working on expanding the machine polishing section to include how-tos when it comes to using the rotary and other machine polishers.

d) Detailing Chat
I know I've been neglecting that and it is a valuable resource for those who want to get some real-time info. However, I am thinking about reducing the frequency of the chat because things are about to get a little busy on my end.

e) Videos
I have been talking about this for years and really want to get this out there. It would be very helpful for those who would like to learn more about various processes. I definitely would like to get more input form those who can video their processes and anyone who can host the videos.

What do you guys think? Do you have any other things you'd like to see here?

All good ideas, Prinz. The videos would be time consuming to shoot and edit, though.

I know there's a 'Tips and Tricks' sticky, but how about some basic how-to's. You know....how to clay bar, polish, wax, do interiors, wheels, glass etc. Maybe a sticky that would be kinda like a detailer's handbook?

Blues: Good ideas. I also want to add a "directory" of those who detail on the org.

Product reviews would serve extremly useful. Made a big difference when i looked up polishes/compounds on autopia.org, saved me a lot of trouble.

Videos are also a great idea.

I am working on the reviews. As for the chat, we may try something different this evening.

I like the how to idea. Anyone want to help me with this?

Did you mean me, Prinz....or anyone?

I can write something up and email it to you for your approval. Are you going to start a sticky thread for things like this?

Those are some good ideas for organizing the detailing forum btw.

I've posted a method of mine for how-to clay bar in this thread:

PrinzII, feel free to rip it if you want. You can add or edit as you see fit.
