EVAP Purge Control Valve
EVAP Purge Control Valve
Anyone out there know the best place to pick up an EVAP Purge Control Valve for a 96 Maxima (the one under the hood, near the firewall)?
I'd like an idea of the cost because I live in Canada and I have a feeling I'll pay way too much here. I'd rather order one from the U-S if possible. Thanks.

Hey there,
I just did mine 2 weeks ago. Apparently Nissan doesn't make a direct replacement for these valves any more. In addition to the valve, I had to buy a different mounting bracket adaptor and new hoses. I called all the dealers in town and they all said the same thing. Total out-the-door came to around $180. I should mention that my '96 is a California spec so your model may be different, not sure though.
If you go to a junk yard, you'll need to grab that mounting bracket underneath the valve. Of course if you don't see one there, it's an old valve so that would mean it's a direct replacement (no bracket required). Hope this helps.

Like gmahn suggested, I would check out a local wrecker with a u-pull-it yard.
Dom's in Courtice/Oshawa had two 96 maximas in the yard when I was there in Nov. I didn't see any at Standard, in Markham, last month.
For components that are not safety or engine performance related, there is nothing wrong with going to the wrecker for parts. I picked up over $500 (dealer price) worth of parts for $40 last time I was at the wreckers.
