Weird engine sound

I was out tonight and on my way home, this F250 (hooked up) pulled up alongside me on a red light. The driver looked at me like his car was faster and my maxima pride got hold of me. We ended up racing and I got him pretty nice (i'm all stock) even thought I peeled out by accident. When I got home, I stepped outside of my car for a sec and I noticed the engine was running really loud. After that it got back to being quiet for a while then loud again. I popped the hood and heard a little clicking noice coming from the engine. I have almost 103k on the car...is this normal for the engine to get louder and quieter because i've never noticed this before...and the slight clicking sound? Now i'm a bit worried i've only had the car for 3 wks.

Thanks

Could it be the fan turning on and off?

The ticking sound is normal.

That would be the radiator fan coming on and going off, if you haven't figured that out already. Sometimes the electrical draw of the fans will cause the engine idle to fluctuate a little as the fans come on and off too.

Easy,
open up your hood, look at where your headlights are, look deep by the driver side, its on the lower part of the headlight support housing, Its take Dot3 anything else will mess up the generator.

Yeah, yeah...change the blinker fluid, check the muffler bearings, and add a racing stripe while you're at it. It makes your car more aerodynamic and is worth 20-30 hp easy!

Its my first normal car i'm just gettin to know everything. My first car was a beater (93 escort lx) so I only popped the hood to add windshield washing fluid. I wouldn't say blinker fluid is common knowledge...
