Hey, when i start my car up i hear a screeching noise for about 1 minute or so then it turns off after i drive it a few feet, im thinking its just my belts that need to be replaced, i was also thinking it could be my ac clutch, but i tried it tonight with my ac turned off and it still did it, it also does a short screech when downshifting and upshifting at higher rpms? any thoughts about if this is just the time to replace my belts? thanks in advance.

 

Check your belts, and tighten/and or replace them, if you need a write-up, buy a haynes or or search the forums manually, or using the ghetto search option located in the stickys with everything else.

 

Replace the belts. Remember if doing the p/s belt that you need to loosen the psp pivot bolt, which is hidden behind the psp. It's hard to identify and access, and the Haynes/Chilton manuals don't hardly mention it.
