Suspension and steering guys/gals, I need your help
I've been having problems with my car for over 2 months now. It involves the steering/suspension. When driving on a straight road and hitting slight bumps, my steering wheel drifts all over the place. This is not your normal bumpsteer. Even when driving on a moderately smooth road, the steering wheel seems to move left/right on its own causing me to have to correct the steering. I was told once by njmaxseltd that I should check my tierods. I did this by jacking up one side at a time. I then proceeded to put pressure on the wheel from one side to the other. Both wheels seemed to move a considerable amount. Now I know what a broken tierod feels like because my dad's van has one. But is this a sign of loose or bad tie-rods or is it something else? Please respond soon cause I will be taking it to my mechanic tomorrow. Thanks in advance.
I was going to say tie rods too, I fixed mine on my old 4g, and it's so much better now, only thing is that's 10 years old, and yours is barely 2 years old.
It's possible to have a loose one and not completely dead.

Go have your front end checked for loose tie rod ends.
Make sure you get an alignment after there installed.
What about struts, could it be possible that they are completly blown to when you hit a bump, the spring rebound detemines sway of the car? What about the front sway bar and the bushings on it? Wheel bearings? Just swiping in the dark here...
Snow plows could have pushed against your wheels, bending the tie rods.
Did you get an alignment after your new struts? The weight of the snow could have caused your suspension to settle unevenly, throwing off the earlier alignment.
Over inflated tires can produce the effect you describe too. Doesn't sound like a steering rack problem. Good luck.

Well, went to my mechanic today. The diagnosis, as njmaxseltd said is the inner tie rod on my left side. Getting the tie rod replaced and getting another alignment done.
And to answer begEL's question, yes I got an alignment after I had new tires and my drop done. I am also running 35psi on OEM 17" wheels with 235/45/17 tires. Also, I never park my car on the street so a snow play could not have plowed against my wheel, and the rare occassion I do park it on the street, the plows have never gone by.
