going to track! suspension ?'s
well i'm going to the track tomorrow with a couple of friends that talk a lot of crap and i wanna kill...one of them has a 95 5.0 stang with h pipe, 2.5inch bassani cat back, sts and an aftermarket clutch and the other with an 03 330ci with cai, muffler, sts and pulleys. I have a 95 gxe 5 spd. with cai, y , 2.5 in b pipe with a flowmaster muffler, centerforce dual friction, centerforce 9 lb flywheel and illumina shocks. I wanted to know if anyone can give me some pointers for track prep. such as suspension settings((stiff or loose?), tire pressure( i read 25 psi...but i know it's diff for every tire) i have 245/45r17's. I am planning to remove everything in the trunk, run on 1/3 tank of gas and launch around 2k but not sure if i should let off at 2k or launch hard. From experience i dont get good traction launching hard. I also plan on shifting at redline from 1-2 and @ 6200 from 2-3. Should i remove the filter on my cai when running? (i bought an ebay cai and it has a small restrictive filter{PR style} ) As usual thanx for all your help...love live the org. u guys kick a**
Good luck, you might beat them.
Set ALL the Illuminas at the hardest position (1 or 5, I can't remember). There has to be as little suspension travel as possible, to counter weight transfer.
Redline first, 6300 for 2-3 and 6000 for 3-4. According to the sticky, those are the optimal shift points, and it worked for me.
Be sure to cut good reaction times. These won't improve your ETs, contrary to popular belief (You could sit at the line for 2 minutes and still run 14s), but a good reaction time can get you to beat a faster car. I won against a 95 5.0 (we were both bone stock) with a 15.00 to his 14.88 because his reaction time was crap so I crossed the line first.
I usually lock on the second yellow, not third, see it light up, and only when it goes out, I floor it. My best R/T doing that was a .022.

The tighter the suspension the better. Max stiff on rear compression to keep the vehicle from squatting; max stiff on front rebound to keep it from lifting. Heck some have even tried blockers on the back and zipties on the fronts.
Oh, keep some type of filter on the intake - who knows what you might suck into the engine.
