Opinions on LSD Tranny

so it does little or nothing for going straight but if your pushing alot of TQ would the lsd prevent TQ steer and help 1/4 times.. I heard somewere were it slows your times , doesn't benefit grag racing. Only Auto X??? if true can someone explain because I have my own definition on how LSD works and most guys I know that drag have this setup but different..
The SRT-4 didn;t show any improvement in the 1/4, not that our cars are neons, but tehy're still FWD. LSD comes to play better when making a tight corner, and not roasting your inner tire to he//. As for the 1/4, when lanuched, normally both tires will grab or spins, but anyway since you're in a straight line and not much force/weight is being sacrificed or distributed unevenly at either front corner, the open diff is actually working the same as an LSD would be in a traight line, it's in the corners when uneven weight distribution among the wheels where the LSD really shines by not allowing the annihilation of your inner tire.
I thought that the LSD helped distribute power to both wheels equally so you could launch at a higher rpm and perhaps improve your 60'. This was why I was so intent on getting an 01 Anniversary tranny but if that has nothing to do with launching then I'll just get a regular 00-01 tranny.
Food for thought: When Hal did his 11.90@125 MPH pass, he had an open differencial trans just like me and the rest of the 5-speed guys. In fact I think Mardi still had his open differencial when he pulled his 1.71 60' time
I spoke with Neal about this and he says that if you get both slicks heated up fine, it won't make a difference.
Tilley says even when had the 1997 5-speed with the 3.5 he didn't get any torque steer at the track, only on uneven roads.
Just buy a cheap 5-speed for 300$ and call it a day
