Nismo for the 6th Gen

Ok, so it has been discussed before how crappy the support for the maxima is from NISMO. However both the 350Z and the altima 3.5 share the same power plant as the maxima with differences in tuning.

That being said shouldn't we be able to order those parts and with minor modifications make em fit onto the maxima? Just something else to get the board rolling again with some fun topic

Good question, I was upset to find out that NISMO makes nothing for the maxima. My friend with an 05 altima sl was making fun of me for the lack of NISMO parts. Why are there no NISMO parts?

I spoke to a guy at Nismo, and he told me that Nissan and Nismo consider the Maxima the "luxury sedan" and they will not be making any parts for it. Even the guy I talked to did not agree, but it is what it is.. no love.

Not sure about your question Msoe, hopefully someone who does know will chime in...

I think I saw a NISMO Pathfinder ad the other day on the plane (JetBlue)... I think it's crazy though... it's gonna become a gimmick if they don't keep that under control. Seriously, it's like SS or SRT... do you NEED to have a "tuned" version of every model you make? Not IMO.

As far as Nissan, there should be Maxima/Altima/350 hardware and that's it... no Pathfinder, Sentra, etc. At least make it SEEM like there's exclusivity in it, and not just some crazy "mass elitism" like in some of the other brands out there.

From what I understand, and has been discussed here before, the G35 and Z being rear wheel drive make parts for that car too different to fit on our cars. There are parts from those engines that can be put on, like lightened flywheels and camshafts, both of which dont seem to be discussed too often. I plan on installing a lightened flywheel when the clutch disc gets replaced. Exhaust systems can be fabricated. There is a lot of horsepower locked up in the exhaust system. If you dont believe me, pull you exhaust off and see how many kinks are there. It looks like a cement truck backed over it numerous times, thats how bad it is.
So, even though Nismo doesnt support our great car, there are enough parts out there to put together a system of mods to spice things up in the horsepower department.

Final thought to NISMO ------>

I agree with Dues on NISMO parts. If that's their position on the max being a "luxury sedan" then why do they fricking market the Max with SPORT ALL OVER THEIR COMMERCIALS!!! The commercials and print ads sure as hell make it look like a sports sedan IMO. Screw them, I bought the Max because I knew from previous generations that it truly is a sports sedan. If they continue with the trend of neglect I will not be a returning customer. It's on to the AMG or M series circuit for me...

I know performance rules here, but there is so little available for the 6th gen that there kinda is no point to getting all the performance mods..

I rather just mod the max up for show instead, you know throw some tv's and dvd in it and just get a coustom system, get the kit for it and slap on some 22'' rims...

I'm waiting right now cause I can't deside on what to do....

edit: I'm going to stop trying to race around in it and make my car a cruser for the first time in my life...

Well guys, I feel your pain also, but listen, I already have my own NISMO Max version, take a look at this 2 pictures (I have more in my CarDomain Page, just click the signature)

If you want to have a NISMO version also, just let me know, I still have 1 more.

Now Seriously guys, I know we all love our MAX power, but we must be honest to ourselves, we got one because of the Flagship status, meaning Luxury, so I don't blame them completely, maybe a little, but not that much.

Nope, I did not purchase this ride because of luxury - got the SE specifically cause I did not want the SL luxury model. I purchased the Maxima because of what I had heard of previous Maxima's performance. Remember the 4 door sports car slogans??? Notice all of the commercials lean to the performance aspects of the maxima and NOT the luxury side. If I wanted a luxury sedan I would have gone with a Lexus. I can't have a 2 door sports car for work (client lunches) but they will allow sports sedans. I have had my car for 2 years and still LOVE it but am pretty frustrated with the neglect it is getting from aftermarket products. I'm a speed freak, all my friends are speed freaks - I need to feed the speed monkey on my back - LOL

Guess if I want that stuff I will have to switch to a higher end true sports sedan...

Well, Nissan does market the Maxima as a sports sedan and they make it clear in their commercials, as stated above. I couldn't agree more with Dues final words to NISMO.

I'm just gonna keep the car stock, performance wise until something special goes into production.

When I sent Nismo an email about altima and maxima parts being interchangeable, they told me that although the engines are the same, the set up is quite different. (?!?)

Final word was: not interchangeable.

Screw NISMO...

Guess they should start changing their commercials for the Max to resemble the themes of the Acura RL or a Lincoln Towncar if they want it to truly be the flagship "luxury" model for Nissan. BORING - For shame *shakes head*...
