Reset ECU when changing Spark plugs
Reset ECU when changing Spark plugs
I've heard that you have to reset the ECU when changing plugs. Is this true? If so, is disconnecting the battery enough or should I do the manual reset thing near the accelerator pedal?

If the ECU actually does recognizes the new plugs, wouldn't you think there would be a learning curve involved with it? If so, whats the point of resetting the ECU? What exactly is it that the ECU is suppost to learn from new plugs? Was your engine seriously missfiring before? Did you get an missfire code?If you feel that resetting the ECU will work, more power to you. No one's stopping you from doing so. The only thing I suggested is to read the FAQ above on how to properly reset the ECU.
